A brief history
A brief history of Wookstock for all of those curious as to how
this joyous event first began.
Back in the old days, a certain young man and his pals walked
the campus of Carnegie Mellon in search of fun and lovin'. Now,
being the PC fellow I am I realized I couldn't walk around saying
"dude, look at that hot box" or "daaaaaaamn, check out that chick".
No no no. That would be wrong. So a term for the "whoah, she's
so damn hot" type of woman was coined. Enter wookie. Wookie was
the perfect solution. Soon it was not uncommon to hear someone
say "check the wookie over there". As we aged and moved on to
graduate from our fine institution it was decided that a major
blowout of a party should be thrown for a the close-knit group
of friends that consumed "apple juice" on a nightly basis together.
This even would be called Wookstock, to be held in a field with
bands, with "apple juice" flowing freely, and much love happening
between our fellow gatherers. A small caravan of people made their
way up to Lawtons, NY for the first annual Wookstock. Now granted,
the bands did not show (I guess I can understand...I mean c'mon,
what the hell is this 'Wookstock' thing?), but the beer did flow,
the camp fires burned, the games were played, the stories were
told, the bonding (bonding, not bondage you dirty freak) occured,
and all was well.
After it was all said and done and people went their own way,
the memories lived on. After talking to many people, some who
were there, some who weren't, it became apparent that Wookstock
stories had made it outside our circle. A year later it was
decided that this event was too cool...too cool to just go down
in the books as "another party". No, this shall become an annual
event. A type of homecoming for some, for the core group. A
damn good time for all newcomers. And so it became...Wookstock
entered the history books as the coolest damn gathering in the
country. A gathering that shall travel the nation to keep things
fresh, to initiate new members into the Wookstock group.
If this sounds like your cup of tea and you have specific questions,
email me at chia@wookstock.com
and let 'em fly. I will answer each and every question that
comes my way. Some will be sarcastic if I don't know the answers
(Yes, Macs are better than PCs...) but I'll do my best.
And there you go.
Smile.
